Finding an appropriate nursing home for a close family member can be a bit difficult as there are so many facilities to choose from in the state of Texas. There is a way however to locate a good facility using the internet.

If you wish to place your loved one in a home in the Houston area, you only need to enter a search term such as nursing home Houston into your favorite search engine and you will be given a nice listing of homes in the greater metropolitan area. If by chance you do not locate any nursing homes in Houston that you like, you can expand your search and look at nursing homes in San Antonio.

Once you have selected one or two facilities of interest, you can then give the homes a call and arrange for a visit. Be sure to ask to see the latest state inspection report and take the time to watch how the staff interacts with the residents. A good nursing home offers many types of activities, has a great menu and employs trained and certified nursing assistants, RNs and therapists. Take note of the housekeeping as it is very important that the facility is clean and well cared for. Ask if there is an outside area such as a patio available to the residents and be sure to tour the entire facility.
